For the first time in the event's history, the Provincial 4-H Public Speaking Competition was held in Yorkton. Kids in four different age groups from all regions of the province assembled in the city to speak at the event and compete for the top honors in the province.

LeeAnn Weinbender, Secretary/Treasurer for the event, says that the public speaking event is a confidence builder for the kids, and a mandatory part of the club. She says that it fits with the club's philosophy of learning by doing, and is one of the many activities kids take part in throughout the year in the 4H program. The provincial competition comes after club, regional and district competition.

The event was held by the six 4-H clubs of the region, Happy Centre 4-H Club, Otthon Outlaws 4-H Club, Rhein 4-H Beef and Activities Club, Springside 4-H Beef Club, Yorkton Creators 4-H Club and Yorkton 4-H Light Horse Club.
