YRHS curlers at Provincials
The YRHS boys curling team went to Weyburn last weekend for the SHSAA provincial curling championship. Coach Gerald Shymko, left, gives out some words of wisdom to Regional players Darren Tillman (partially blocked, Paul Toth, Brendan Campbell, Ryan Nagy and Brennan Peleshytyk. They played against a Weyburn team that was coming off last year’s championship, things didn’t get off to a great start for YRHS. The curling championships was set up as a triple knockout format, meaning that three losses and you’re done. After losing a tough one to Weyburn to open the tournament, next up was a match with North Battleford. “(We) lost our first game against Weyburn,” said YRHS coach Lana Stanek-Sebastian via her Twitter account. That meant they would have to get a win in their last game with Weyburn.“Well we lost our third game against Weyburn and are out. We played them yesterday morning also. The boys called a good game but were not able to come back after a four ender. Tough day,” she tweeted.
