Saltcoats native Kyle Bassingthwaite, left, the former student of the Yorkton Regional High School, is soon returning for her second year at the University of Regina. She has continued her track and field pursuits with the U of R Cougars' team where she trains and competes in the throwing events. During the weekend of July 27-28, Bassingwaite competed in the hammer throw competition at the Canadian Junior Nationals which took place in Winnipeg. She was the only thrower from Saskatchewan and overall, she placed in 11th in the country. To date, her personal best is 39.36 metres.
