RM approves new work camp

The RM of Estevan approved the development of a work camp during the latest meeting of council Sept. 19.
The work camp had been previously proposed to council at the last meeting but denied because council requested that the developers address some issues involving road access, security and waste removal. The work camp, to be located in the Shand Road Industrial District, is a go now that the developers have met council's concerns.
Council also received an update on the progress made by the road crew that is repairing a number of road issues. Some extra hands were recently hired to help with the repairs and council is very pleased with the progress, applauding the crew's efforts.
Seven development permits were approved within the RM, four residential and three for commercial shops. while one development permit was approved for an oilwell.
The RM approved a road maintenance agreement with an oil company, which requires them to participate in a road re-construction project. One 10-acre single parcel country residential subdivision was approved by council.
The RM also passed a bylaw to permit five single parcel country residential subdivisions per quarter section in addition to the remnant parcel. A second bylaw sets the maximum subdivision size at 10 acres, while a third bylaw set the development levy fee for a commercial district.
