Dear Editor:
Kudos to Yorkton This Week and Kathy Morrell for the editorial and the letter to the editor in the November 9, 2011 edition of Yorkton This Week regarding the preservation of the CBC. My thoughts mirror theirs. CBC (radio in particular) has been a daily part of my life in excess of 3 decades. I learn more about what is going on in Saskatchewan & Canada from CBC then I could ever glean from any commercial radio station.
Our MP in his presentation to parliament says he has a large number of petitions from coast to coast calling for government to de-fund the CBC. I suggest to Mr. Breitkreuz the numbers in support of the broadcaster are greater.
I supported Mr Breitkreuz on abolishment of the long gun registry and also do so with respect to his Outdoors Caucus initiative, however this current cause celebre is wrongheaded and unnecessary. Surely there must be more pressing matters to deal with.
