CALDER - Fundraiser underway

The Calder Yalenka Dance Club went out Ukraine Christmas Caroling. This is one of the clubs fundraisers for the year. The Club would like to thank everyone who welcomed us into their homes.

Thank you to the Calder Blues Hockey team for doing a great job on the rink boards. The new repairs look great.
The Calder Karate Club has started up on Monday nights at the Calder Community Hall. Karate starts at 6 p.m.-7 p.m. Anyone can come out and join. For more information phone Ron at 742-2050.

Anyone who would like a video of the Calder’s 100th birthday celebration, phone Raymond at 742-2033 for more information and price.

Hope everyone enjoyed the pancake and sausage breakfast that was held on Jan. 15. All the proceeds went to Cystic Fibrosis’ research in our province. Thanks to all that bought raffle tickets, the winners were: Michelle Raml (large teapot with cups and candles), Steve Sobkow (tea for two), Barb Sobkow (pound cake), Sarah Adam (Calgon bath sachem), Avery Baumung (Everyday Style quick bread mix with apron), Eileen Linton (Alpine bath gift set), Phil Sobkow (Everyday Style citrus tea), and the birdhouse went to Tanner Marteniuk.

The Calder skating ice is finally finished. The Calder School went skating on Thursday and Friday afternoon. Public skating will be on Friday nights and Sunday afternoons. For more information phone 742-2014.

The Calder Playschool parents are selling raffle tickets for a Valentine’s draw. Tickets are available from the parents at the Calder Library. The Calder Library is open Monday and Wednesday from 12 p.m.-1 p.m. Stop by and have a cup of coffee and pick out some books.
