Sunrise Health Region launched an online Well Wishes program on Wed., May 23. Well Wishes is designed to provide family members and friends convenient access to send “get well” messages to patients in the Yorkton Regional Health Centre by using an online website form.

Well Wishes messages are hand delivered to patients each weekday through a partnership with Sunrise Health Region Switchboard employees and volunteer services. Upon receipt of messages via the Sunrise Health Region website, staff members print the messages and volunteers deliver the messages to the patient’s room. Messages received on weekends or statutory holidays will be delivered the following business day; messages are confidential and are printed and then folded for delivery.

“Volunteer Resources is very excited to be a part of the Well Wishes program,” said Suzette Szumutku, Director of Volunteer Resources with Sunrise Health Region. “We have an excellent group of volunteers in our region and the ability to involve them in delivering positive healing messages to patients is a great initiative.”

The Well Wishes program is currently available for patients in the Yorkton Regional Health Centre with plans to expand to other facilities throughout the region in the future.
