Raider cheer tryout dates

The high school year is coming to an end soon but the season of picking out the best possible girls for the YRHS cheer squad is just getting underway.

On June 5-6 (Tuesday and Wednesday), the Regional will begin the process of inviting those who are interested to come out and audition to be Raider Gridder cheer squad members for next year, says coach Jennifer Ingham. Gymnastics and dance experience are a definite asset, says Ingham, who recommends that runners and athletic attire be worn.

Tryouts are for youth (ages 9-11) and junior (ages 12-14). Girls interested in making the team must attend both tryouts, she says. The dates are June 5-6 in the Yorkton Regional High School gymnasium.
Times are 4-5:30 p.m. (youth) and 5:30-7 p.m., (junior).

Ingham warns that not all girls will make the team and a financial commitment is required once teams are selected.

Registration forms are required to be filled out. They can be obtained through the YRHS Student Services or through Ingham by calling 786-5560 or 621-3230.

Regional cheerleaders need to have the following characteristics: stunting ability, gymnastics ability, dance ability, facial expression, attitude, good attendance, and a display of school spirit, such as on ‘Orange’ days.
