A knight’s tale

Kelly Running The Observer

Vincent Gabriel Kirouac and his horse, Coeur de Lion, are travelling across Canada to promote chivalry.

Vincent Gabriel Kirouac, 22, of Quebec City is travelling across the country with his nine-year-old mare Coeur de Lion. Dressed as a knight he hopes to promote chivalry, manners, and goodness to fellow people.

He has been travelling for two and a half months having started in Quebec. Meeting wonderful people along the way he has only spent one night outside.

“God asked me to do it: to be good to people, chivalrous, polite, and to hold good manners. Knights to me are incorruptible and this is why I chose to travel as one.” Kirouac explained.

Kirouac had to trailer his horse for part of the ride across northern Ontario. This will happen again when he reaches the Rocky Mountains, as he is not allowed to ride through them for safety reasons. Other dangers have also presented themselves during his travels.

“Yesterday [June 17] I feared being stuck in a storm, so I prayed and a voice said to keep going. I prayed that He would part the sky for me like He did the sea for Moses and you know what happened, the black cloud in front of me split. There was lightning to either side of me, but not in front. I had told him that I had prepared the best I could, I had zipped my coat. God always provides.”

He is greatly enjoying the trek across Canada, taking in the different sceneries and meeting fantastic people along the way. Kirouac hopes to promote the message of goodness and kindness to all he encounters along the way.
