On Sat., June 30, Don and Glenda Bell attended the marriage of a cousin, Trevor Smulan and Jessica Lesko at the Eastside United Church in Regina. Trevor is the son of Carole and the late Brian Smulan of Lemberg. A supper and dance followed at the White City Community Centre.
Joe and Leona Kaczur attended the marriage of Morgan Clark and Kenzie McKay in Coronach in mid-June. Morgan is the third son of niece Jackie (Bleau) and Rodney Clark. They also attended the wedding of her cousin Trevor Smulan to Jessica Lesko in Regina.
Sympathy of the community goes out to the extended Topliss family on the passing of their uncle, Billy Topliss, of Kelowna, BC on July 4. He was predeceased by his wife Joan; his parents Sam and Florrie; and his brothers Ken, Sammy and Derek. He is survived by his daughter Trudy; son Randy; his only surviving sibling Irene Higton of Ontario and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Jully 16 at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery.
July 5, Don and Glenda Bell travelled to Clear Lake for four days of relaxation enjoying the beautiful park and beach, visiting and camping.
Joe and Leona Kaczur spent a week camping at Clear Lake, MB in early July along with daughter Candice and Dan Oremba and children, Jake and Kendal of Regina. They also spent some time visiting with daughter Lynn and Stan Bialas, Derrick and Heather of Onanole, MB.
Audrey Nielsen was a popular lady on Sat., July 14 when she brought finger-licking good cupcakes and bought coffee for the two dozen persons in attendance at coffee row to celebrate her birthday. Many wishes for a happy, healthy year ahead, Audrey!
Irene and Murray Bawden spent two nights camping at Cypress Hills Prov Park with their son, Keith and Krista Bawden, Andra and Quinn. They celebrated Keith’s birthday on July 13. Andra came home with them.
Lyla and John Forgeron of Calgary, AB arrived July 17 to spend some time in the area while camping out at the Freed homestead south of Dubuc. Lyla’s nephew, Ryan Freed (Stephanie Off) and their son,Wesley, now reside at the former Albin/Margaret Freed residence. Forgeron’s grandson, Quinn, son of Krista and Keith Bawden accompanied them from Calgary. He joined his sister, Andra, to spend some time on the farm with their other grandparents, Irene and Murray Bawden, Uncle Tom and Auntie Julie and their families. The Forgeron’s and Andra have now returned to Calgary.
Congratulations and best wishes go out to Sophie Ackroyd and Nicholas Rausch who were married on July 14, 20l2 at the St Andrew’s United Church in Esterhazy. Sophie and Nick’s wedding day was a fantastic occasion with hot sunny weather. The bride’s uncle Charles Ackroyd from England was a special visitor for the occasion, along with another Englishman, Andy Stone, and his Canadian girlfriend, Betty, friends of the family who both now live in Alberta. The wedding ceremony was followed by a supper and wedding dance at the S.N. Boreen Community Centre. Several hundred people attended, lots of which were children who proceeded to dance the night away with all the adults. Sophie and Nick spent their honeymoon in Disney world, Florida which perfectly concluded a very memorable and exciting time in their lives. Sophie is the oldest daughter of Lindsay and Bill Ackroyd who moved to Canada from England to farm South of Dubuc around the turn of the century.
Get well wishes and a speedy recovery to Dwight Duchek who spent a couple days in hospital this past week. He is now home and we hope you are feeling much better by the time this is printed.
Dubuc and community were saddened to learn of the passing of Larry Topliss at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre on Fri., July 13 at the age of 62 years. He grew up on a farm a couple miles West of Dubuc with his parents, Bessie (Johnson) and Ken Topliss, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Sympathy is extended to his wife, Christine (Andersen) Yorkton; daughter, Charla from Red Deer, AB; son, Jared (Heidi) and their children, Hayden and Nathan all of Yorkton; his siblings: Lanny of Dubuc, Irene (Murray) Bawden of Dubuc, Norma (Gary) Granat of Livelong, Carlyle (Brenda) of Canora and Ronald (Denise) of Saskatoon; many nieces and nephews as well as Christine’s family members. Funeral services were held in Yorkton on Wed., July 18.
Leona Kaczur treated everyone at coffee row on Sat., July 21 to coffee and delicious lemon or Saskatoon berry tarts. A special visitor that day was Virginia Kaczur of Yorkton. Happy birthday to you and many more to come, Leona!
Recent visitors at the Prairie Manor to check out Mary Forsberg’s new digs were grandson, Dallas and Danya Forsberg from Regina; son, Gary Forsberg of Yorkton; cousins, Art and Marie Lambie of Yorkton; nieces: Pat and Len Culic from Parksville, BC and Lillian Cale and her daughter, Sandy, of Assiniboia. They also visited with Jim (Vivian) Talbot. The Cales and the Culics both motored to Esterhazy to visit Aunt Judy and Uncle John Talbot as well as cousin, Jeanette and Ed Boyechko.
Del Edwards of Nanaimo, BC and Terra Nielsen of North Battleford are currently spending time with grandparents, Audrey and Peter Nielsen. They are enjoying camping and fishing at Crooked Lake.
Darla Bailey, Carter, Sarah and Liam of Hazlet, Dayna (Pat) Markwart, Colton and Jayme of Regina and Merv (Dawn) Andersen, Hudson and Kareena also of Regina have been visiting with Vivian, Jim, Shane, Terra, Riley and Ashalee Talbot in Dubuc and at their campers at Crooked Lake. Everyone attended the funeral of Uncle and brother-in-law Larry Topliss last Wednesday in Yorkton.
Janet Sievers was the birthday girl at Tuesday’s coffee row. She brought some yummy home baked goodies to treat the coffee drinkers. Hope you have a great year, Janet!
Congratulations to proud new parents, Jason and Marella Chopping and big brother, Mason, on the arrival of Matthew Robert Michael Chopping. Matthew was born on Tues., July 17 weighing seven pounds, seven oz and was twenty-one and a half inches long. Congrats to grandparents for the ninth time, Bruce Chopping and Mary (Smith) Chopping as well.
