Dwayne Michael Krochak was born on July 7, 1970, in Yorkton, SK. Dwayne was Stanley and Elizabeth Krochak’s first child, followed by Lauressa, Jody, and Stanley Jr. He married Melanie MacKay in 1991, and has three wonderful children - Miriah, Zachary, and Brett. Dwayne’s childhood  years were filled with sports, dance and church. He played a variety of sports, but excelled most as a Ukrainian dancer. While many of his friends were heading out to early morning hockey practices, Dwayne spent 8 years going to Saturday morning dance class, perfecting his roznizhka and other difficult dance moves. Besides taking Ukrainian dancing, Dwayne, Lauressa, and Jody attended Ukrainian school every week after regular school was done. As a result, Dwayne could speak Ukrainian well, and often did the youth readings at the Ukrainian Orthodox church his family attended. Stan and Liz raised their kids in church, and Dwayne was active in his youth group, but it was when he responded to an altar call when he was in Grade 12 that he truly began living a life committed to God. Dwayne was a strong student, especially in math and science, and won math competitions in high school. After graduating from Sacred Heart in Yorkton, Dwayne attended Faith Bible College International, in Saskatoon. Upon completion of Faith College, he began teaching at Christian Centre Academy in September, 1990. This year was Dwayne’s 22nd year at CCA. Though Dwayne’s main employment was teaching, he had many other side-occupations. He did renovation jobs, and was in high demand because of the quality of his work. For the past few summers, he has owned The Guys yard services, specializing in building decks and fences, and doing lawn care. And finally, Dwayne was in charge of the sound department at Saskatoon Christian Centre. He was truly gifted as a sound technician. Besides loving the technical side of music, Dwayne loved gospel music itself. Along with music, Dwayne loved sports. Most of the students think of football or hockey when they think of Mr. Krochak, but as a teen and young adult, volleyball was Dwayne’s favourite sport. As he got older, golf took the place of volleyball, and he spent last year’s summer holiday golfing in Kimberely, BC, with his close friends and his sons. Dwayne was a favourite teacher for many students. Although students had a healthy fear of Mr. Krochak, they also knew that he loved them. He balanced out his disciplinary side with healthy play, and won their trust and respect. It meant a lot to the students that an adult would want to play with them, and Dwayne truly did WANT to play with his kids. He loved them, was patient with them, and cared about their well-being in all aspects. As the oldest son, Dwayne felt responsible for his mom and siblings after his Dad passed away, in Jan. 2009, and loved them all deeply. He was a loyal and devoted son and brother. Dwayne was a supportive husband and father. He took good care of his family, and took his responsibility as a father very seriously. Dwayne often talked about his kids, and was very proud of the wonderful children they are. Melanie, Miriah, Zak and Brett are pillars of strength, peace, and goodness, because that is who Dwayne was, and that is what he instilled into them. While Dwayne lives like never before, in the presence of His Father and Saviour, Jesus Christ, he also lives on through us, because he impacted us all in so many ways. Dwayne was deeply loved by his family and friends, and will be greatly missed. -John 3:16- Dwayne passed away on July 27, 2012 with his wife & family at his bedside. Memorial service was on July 31, 2012 at Saskatoon Christian Centre.
