Representing the City of North Battleford is Sibohan Gormley along with Heather O'Neill, Dave Schambers from Hydro's Plumbing, Alana Tucker from Freedom Snow and Skate and Daniel L'Heureux from L'Heureux Contracting and Electrical. The children cutting the ribbon are Spencer O'Neill, Carver O'Neill and Max Weran.

No tee times are needed, there is no dress code and any skill level can play a round at the new course. The North Battleford Disc Golf Course was officially unveiled Sunday in Centennial Park.

The idea was brought to life after Heather O'Neill went to the North Battleford city council with a proposal to start the first disc golf course in North Battleford.

After finding strong support and sponsors in the Battlefords the course was constructed and the ribbon was cut Sunday marking the start of a new recreational option for local residents.

The idea of disc golf is simple. Start from the tee box and count how many throws it takes on each hole to get the disc into the basket.

While some players have their own disc with different weight for different shots and weather conditions anyone with a disc and the ambition to get outside to the park can play. The first hole is local near the tot lot behind Beaver Lions Stadium and then from there, follow the signs.

Along with cutting the ribbon on the weekend many got their first chance on the new course during the sponsors' tournament and barbecue.

The top team was the Hydro's plumbing team of Dave Schambers, Vickie Joyce and Rejean Michaud.

The longest drive was won by Andy Tokaryk and the closest to the pin was won by Michaud.
