TKD challenge

The Yorkton Tae Kwon Do Association and Kee’s Tae Kwon Do are hosting their 13th Annual Invitational Tae Kwon Do tournament.

“We have invited over 60 Tae Kwon Do schools from North Dakota, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Manitoba. We are hoping to attract 200-300 competitors,” offers Master Wayne Mitchell of Kee’s.

The competition rules used at this tournament will be by the World Tae Kwon Do Federation, the same rules that were used at the 2012 London Olympics and 2011 Pan-Am Games.

WTF Tae Kwon Do is an exciting and spectacular demonstration of martial arts competition.

The event will take place at the Gallagher Centre Flexihall facility on Oct. 27. Patterns are scheduled to begin at 8:45 a.m.

Opening ceremonies are planned for 12 noon.

The coloured belt sparring is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., with the black belt sparring scheduled for 3 p.m.

“The black belt sparring is a ten-fold increase in talent and excitement over the earlier days’ proceedings,” says Mitchell.

All times are scheduled to be adjusted at any time throughout the day, advises Mitchell.

“Our local competitors have been training very hard for this. There will be some first time competitors as well as our able veterans entered into this event. If you wish further information, please call me at 783-0650 or email me at taekwondo.y...@sasktel.net.
