SPORTS SHORTS

Terriers

The Yorkton Terriers will start the season Friday against the Weyburn Red Wings and will play next Friday against the Humboldt Broncos. Both games are at the Farrell Agencies Arena and are 7:30 p.m. starts.

Volleyball

The Saskatchewan High Schools Athletic Association volleyball season continued over the weekend with a senior boys tournament at the Sacred Heart High School. See story on Page A19. The senior girls team was on the road over the weekend at the University of Regina where they played in the A side consolation match. They are off this weekend before they leave for Estevan to close out September on the road. The senior girls team from the YRHS was scheduled to play in the Prince Albert Carlton tournament this past weekend and are scheduled to play at Mega Regina this weekend. The Sacred Heart girls soccer team also played at home over the weekend.

Football

The Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association football season is underway. The Yorkton Regional High School senior team was scheduled to play last night in their first home game as a member of the Moose Jaw High School Football League. The Sacred Heart junior team won their third straight game of the season on Monday in a 40-20 win over the Cobras on home field. The senior team plays tomorrow at 4 p.m.

Tennis

The Yorkton Pirate Tennis Club is hosting its first event as a club this weekend at the LDM court near the Western Development Museum. 'Let There be Light' tennis day is Sept. 22 starting at 4 p.m. Tennis play to start at 4 p.m. Lunch break at 5:30-6:15 p.m., and more tennis under the lights from 6:30 pm on. Cost is $20 per player. Contact the Yorkton Pirate Tennis Club at 783-5887. If you are willing to bring a small food item, please advise. The tennis club has arranged for (ribs and chicken), sport drinks, water, plates and condiments, with donations from the Yorkton Co-op.

Harvest

The Yorkton Harvest have three preseason games remaining before the season starts at the end of the month. They play tonight against Notre Dame at 7:30 p.m. The team is still in search of billet homes for the upcoming season. If interested, please contact the billet coordinator, Kylie Bielka at 783-3938/ 641-5407. She would love to give you more information, and answer any questions you may have.
