The medal winners from the Sacred Heart High School (SHHS) at the district cross country meet held last Thursday in Melville. They included Rita Fetsch (senior girls), Elias Giannoulis (senior boys) and then Christine Koroluk (senior girls) and Justine Zarowny (midget girls).
“Eleven members of the cross country team attended districts yesterday in Melville. Sacred Heart has two new district champions, four medals and all 11 runners qualified to move on to provincials next week,” reports coach Rachel Sterzuk.
“Justine Zarowny ran her best race of the season yesterday to become the midget girls district Champion and Elias Giannoulis continued his unbeaten streak to become the senior boys district champion.
Rita Fetsch ran an amazing race but won the silver medal against very strong competition.
Christine Koroluk added to the medal haul with a bronze in the senior girls age group.” Congratulations to Paige Mundt, Brianna Blazeiko, Allison Kruger, Petro Vivchar, Ben Fetsch, Evan LaJambe and Luke Schaab for finishing in the top 10 in their races.
