Accident exaggerated

Fire department says slow down

A supposed six-vehicle pileup this morning in Yorkton was a simple two vehicle collision.

Greg Litvanyi, deputy fire chief, said there were only minor, non-life threatening injuries to one of the drivers, who was transported to hospital by EMS.

Litvanyi said road conditions were a factor in the accident. Yorkton Fire Protective Services wants to remind motorists to slow down given current conditions.

Several days of alternating snow and rain plus cool then warm then cool temperatures have made Yorkton roads hazardous.

The fire department also wants to remind drivers that the proper procedure when there is an emergency vehicle behind them is to slow down and pull over to the right when it is safe to do so.

"I followed a guy for eight blocks on Broadway the other day," Litvanyi said.
