Calder - Busy season for all

The Calder Seniors held their Whist Drive and here are the winners of that Whist Drive: 1st Mildred Danylko, 2nd Marlene Balabuk, 3rd Peter Wereshuk, low Debbie Pryslak. The Pot of Gold went to Anne Mostoway and Marjory Mankish.

A huge thank you to all who donated to the Calder Playschool Bottle Drive.

The Calder School Annual Christmas Concert was held on Dec. 19, 2013 at the Calder Community Hall. Program started at 7 p.m.

A huge thank you to Amanda and Kathleen Antony and Dave Stupak, who had a surprise 25th Anniversary Party for their parents, Edwin & Karen Antony. Thank you to the bridal party, Patty Harper, Norma Harper, Marlin Fattiecher, Eldon Fattiecher, Sheila Kringle, Cliff Shebebuk, Jason Balabuck and the rest of their family who attended this were: Herb and Martha Harper, Evelyn Antony, Wayne and Tammy Antony, Jean and Norman Rapchalk, Thomas and Carol, Kassidi and Wyatt Antony, Valerie Mann, Sam Kringle, Marie Dawe and Steve Dawe and May Shebeluk and Morgan and Brayden Fattiecher.

Thank you to Virginia Antony and her little helpers for making a wonderful supper for us.

Thank you all for the wonderful surprise, you all have a special place in our hearts and lives.

The Calder Annual Christmas Potluck Supper was held on Dec. 8, 2013, at the Calder Community Hall. Thank you to the Calder Yalenka Dance Club for putting on a wonderful performance for us. Thank you to Santa Claus too, it was pretty cold out, we didn’t know if he would have made it to Calder. Thank you to an amazing community and surrounding area, family and friends who attended this event, the weather wasn’t the greatest but we had a full hall.

Judy Pryslak had her daughter, Debbie Pryslak out visiting her on the weekend.

The Calder Blues Hockey team has started playing some hockey. The Calder Blues took part in the Roblin Hockey Tournament.

The Calder skating ice is ready to go, public skating will be on Friday nights and Sunday afternoons. Free public skating, so bring your family out for some fun.

From our community to your community, we wish You All a Very Merry Christmas and All the Best in the New Year.

The Calder Senior Centre held their Christmas Party and Birthday Social. People who had birthdays were: Beth Furtney of Roblin, Elmer Eftoda of Calder, Ann Mostoway of Calder and Marlene Balabuk of Calder. The winners of the whist drive were as follows: Marlene Balabuk, Lil Wozney. Peter Wereschuk, low went to Marlene Balabuk. The Pot of Gold winners were Beth Furtney and Virginia Wandy.

The winners of the Christmas Food Hamper Raffles were Joy Baker, Walter Balabuk, Judy Pryslak, Beth Furtney and Arthur Martinuk.

The Calder Library closed from Dec. 23, 2013 till Jan. 1, 2014. We will be open on Mon., Jan. 6, 2014.

The Calder Playschool students held their Christmas party on Mon., Dec. 16, 2013 at the Calder Parkland Regional Library. The Calder Playschool would like to thank everyone who came out and supported their French Toast and Sausage Breakfast & Bake Sale at the Community Hall.

The Calder Trade Show was a good turnout at the Calder Community Hall.
