Business award nominations in

Just over 80 nominations have been received for the Yorkton Chamber of Commerce 2014 Celebrate Success Business Awards.

Carol Yaholnitsky, Co-Chair of the Celebrate Success Committee is surprised with the number of nominations.  “We are rather disappointed by the number of nominations,” she said.  “However, when you look at the list of the nominees, the quality of nominations is excellent.” For past Celebrate Success events, the average has been over 100 nominations.

Laurie Fedorowich, the other Co-Chair of the committee agrees.  “Of the 9 categories in which businesses can be nominated, over 70 businesses are represented.”  The tenth category is Community Merit and it is for organizations and events. “The nominations that have been received for Community Merit are for some outstanding contributors to the community.”

The nominees will have until Friday February 28 to complete their nomination packages. They have the option of submitting written responses to the questions or a video.

Once the packages are all in, Juanita Polegi, Executive Director indicated the judging process will begin. “An independent panel of seven judges will be convened to review the nominations and select the Award recipients,” she said. “A luncheon announcing the finalists will be held Thursday March 13 at the Painted Hand Casino.”
