The 2014 East Central Bull Power Sale was held in Yorkton last Tuesday, and prices were strong.
The high selling bull at the Yorkton Yorkton Exhibition Association sponsored sale was a Shorthorn bull consigned by Glen and Ryan Bender, Bender Shorthorns, Neudorf, SK. ‘Glenford Miner 45A’, a yearling bull sold for $8,000 to buyer Scott Hansen of Noonan, North Dakota.
‘Star P Ultra Blue 55Z’, a two year old Shorthorn bull consigned by Blaine and Rayleen Possberg, Star P Farms, Humboldt, SK brought $5,800 from buyer Eugene Prychak of Rama, SK.
The top selling Charolais bull in the multi-breed sale was ‘LCR Tiberius 305A’, a yearling consigned by Jon and Krystal Moulding, Laurel Creek Ranch, Abernathy, SK. It sold for $3,500 to buyer Barry Coulter of Willowbrook, SK.
Garnet and Shirley Yewsuk, Evan Yewsuk and Evan Yewsuk, U6 Livestock, Wynyard, SK, consigned the high selling Angus. The yearling bull ‘U6 Bamazon 36A (RC)’ brought a bit of $4,600 from buyer Garnet Zerbin of Jansen, SK.
In terms of averages 22 yearling Shorthorn bulls grossed $71,800 for an average of $3,264, three two year olds sold for $12,300, and averaged $4,100.
Among the Red Angus; 11 yearlings sold for $34,600, an average of $3,145; while three heifers sold for $5,800 – averaged $1,933.
On the Black Angus side three yearlings sold for $11,800, averaging $3,933.
Four Charolais yearling bulls sold for $12,350, and averaged $3,088.
The overall sale saw 43 bulls sell for $142,850, an average of $3,322, three two year old bulls sold for $12,300, averaging $4,100, 40 yearling bulls sold for $130,550, averaging $3,364.
