Donna Moore has been getting a lot of attention lately.
“I love it,” she said. “It feels good.”
The long-time volunteer, known for her love of the Yorkton Terriers — she was Terrier Volunteer of the Year in 2011 — recently retired from SARCAN after 22 years of service. A party in her honour drew dozens of well-wishers.
“It was quite a do,” she said.
On April 7, Yorkton MLA Greg Ottenbreit paid tribute to Donna in the Saskatchewan Legislature calling her volunteerism “legendary.”
“Donna was born in 1957 with what some would see as insurmountable challenges,” he said. “She endured many reconstructive surgeries in her younger days, but tired of the discomfort and was very comfortable with who she was. Those who know her today only see a woman with an amazing work ethic and a loyal, generous and loving heart.”
Ottenbreit used his member statement time for the address.
“With the member’s statements we like to recognize events or people locally and I think Donna is a pretty amazing person,” he said.
Donna is loving her retirement and looking forward to putting it to good use.
“I’m into a lot of sports,” she said. “I love sports, so I’ll be spending more time on that.”
