Woman’s body found in Hwy 16 ditch s

Police are currently investigating the death of a 23-year-old woman whose body was found in a ditch off Hwy 16 approximately eight kilometres east of Foam Lake.

RCMP Major Crime Unit South, Prince Albert Forensic Identification Section and Dog Services, and a collision reconstructionist from Yorkton are not saying yet whether they view the death of the Day Star First Nation resident as suspicious.

Cpl. Chis Hanson with major crimes said they have not determined the cause of death pending an autopsy, which was to take place early this week.

He would not speculate whether it was traffic-related saying the presence of a collision reconstructionist is a standard procedure in these kinds of cases.

The body was reported to police April 12, but the time of death has also not been established.

The name of the woman has not been released pending notification of family members.
