The Health Foundation is very pleased to be able to announce that Canadian Tire will be sponsoring the Learn to Run clinics this year.

“Canadian Tire has supported many of our fundraising campaigns for new medical equipment in the past. We are very pleased they will be working with us to support our annual Charity Road Race and the Learn to Run clinics. They are making a substantial commitment to The Health Foundation with this $2,500 sponsorship,” said Ross Fisher, Executive Director of The Health Foundation.

“Supporting the Charity Road Race and in particular sponsoring the Learn to Run clinics is a perfect fit for Canadian Tire and our values,” said David Dungey, Yorkton Canadian Tire store owner. Canadian Tire has a very deep commitment to providing opportunities for kids to play sports, to help make participation in recreational activities accessible for all children. We all can see that through Canadian Tire’s ‘We all play for Canada’ and Jump Start programs. Sponsoring the Learn to Run clinics and the Charity Road Race fits right in with those values and is a wonderful way for us to give back to the community, continued Mr. Dungey.

The running clinics are in their seventh year and have proven to be very popular, and if we are to continue to hold them annually we need to have ongoing sponsorship; so we are very pleased to have Canadian Tire working with us. We will be delivering three running clinics: one for beginners, a 10 km clinic and a half marathon clinic for those who already run.

“We wanted to keep our clinic for beginners, because it is very important to us to have that entry point for people who don’t run, but would like to introduce an element of fitness into their lifestyle. We know it is often much easier to begin when you participate with others who are at the same level you are”, said Ross Fisher Executive Director of The Health Foundation.

All proceeds of the Charity Road Race are used to purchase new medical equipment for the regional hospital.
