Drunk driver injures toddler and mom

A 31-year-old Yorkton remains in lockup in Regina after injuring a toddler and her mother in a drug driving collision May 1.

According to an RCMP press release, Francis Hotomani allegedly exited a back alley off Bradbrooke Drive in a grey SUV. He lost control hitting a light standard then a blue minivan before fleeing the scene.

Emergency Medical Technicians transported the 44-year-old woman and the toddler to the Yorkton Regional Hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries and released the next day.

Police caught up with the accused a short time later and arrested him for flight from a police officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, driving with a blood alcohol content above .08 causing bodily harm, failure to remain at the scene of an accident and driving while suspended.

Hotomani appeared by video in Yorkton court May 5. He was remanded in custody until May 9 for a bail hearing.
