Friday, June 6 marked the 70th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy. The Alexander Ross Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion held a parade and service at the Cenotaph in the Yorkton Cemetery. The ceremony included spreading the ashes of the wreaths collected and burned on Remembrance Day over the graves of deceased soldiers. A brief service was held followed by refreshments at the Legion Lounge.
