WILLIAM SHKWARCHUK

William ‘Bill’ Shkwarchuk of Yorkton, formerly of Rhein, father of Lorna Sherring and Brian Shkwarchuk passed away on July 15, 2014 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was eighty five years of age. William Shkwarchuk was born, the youngest of twelve children, on May 15, 1929 on the family farm, twelve miles north of Springside in the Drobot district, a son of Wasyl and Anna (Magdych) Skwarchuk. Bill grew up on the family farm and started farming on his own in 1948. In 1959 he joined Sask Power Corp and was employed there until 1977. He then started employment with Acklands Ltd. and Ward Johnson Electric until 1982, at which time he joined Imperial 400 as Night Audit until his retirement in 1994. Bill was united in marriage to Georgia-Lee (Keith) in 1963. They were blessed with two children, Lorna and Brian. Bill loved being with relatives and friends visiting and conversing especially at Easter and Christmas, which was celebrated very highly. Bill kept a full schedule never to have a dull moment. He always gave a helping hand to relatives and friends whole heartedly and was never worried to take on any task. Bill was self-trained in carpentry, electrical, plumbing and mechanical. He took great pride in a job well done, which he demonstrated by designing and building the family cabin at Good Spirit Lake from ground up. His final project was building three sleighs by hand for himself and his children, one of which is on display outside of the Family Centre at Yorkton Memorial Gardens. He was an avid coin and stamp collector and loved to travel when he could. He also enjoyed a game of Bingo. He had a great love for animals and musical instruments and played many tunes by ear on his violin, accordion, cymbaly and banjo. Bill was a man of many talents.
