MONTREAL - A Quebec man has been charged with uttering threats after a tirade against Premier Jean Charest appeared on YouTube.

Maxime Brown has been charged with threatening the premier and his family.

Brown is not to come within 200 metres of Charest's home, workplace or the educational institutions of his children.

He's also forbidden from possessing a weapon, participating in political protests or the student movement, and using the Internet or having a computer.

In a video published over the weekend, Brown was allegedly seen brandishing a sword and threatening to kill Charest and his children.

Quebec provincial police arrested the 25-year-old and searched his Montreal home for evidence.

A spokeswoman for the force says all threats online are taken very seriously.
