Japan's Crown Prince makes first official visit to Thailand, begins Southeast Asian tour

BANGKOK - Japan's Crown Prince Naruhito has arrived in Thailand on his first official visit.

The Foreign Ministry says Naruhito is to meet Monday with Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and then with King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit.

The 53-year-old crown prince is to travel on Tuesday to a historical study centre, a Buddhist temple and the remnants of an ancient Japanese town in Thailand's former capital of Ayutthaya.

Naruhito also is to meet with Japanese businesspeople and citizens living in Thailand during his stay, which ends Wednesday. He will then travel to Cambodia and Laos before returning to Japan on Sunday.
