Denis Gagnon, Rudsak among first designers announced for Montreal Fashion Week

MONTREAL - Hometown favourites will feature prominently on the runway when Montreal Fashion Week kicks off next month.

The semi-annual style showcase has announced the first designers that will feature spring-summer 2013 collections.

Acclaimed designer Denis Gagnon and leather goods retailer Rudsak are among those slated to unveil a fresh slate of apparel and accessories.

Other Montreal-based talents will include Eve Gravel, Tavan & Mitto, Duy, UNTTLD, Anastasia Lomonova, Melissa Nepton, Pedram Karimi, Travis Taddeo, jewelry label La Raffinerie and husband-and-wife design duo Martin Lim.

Iris Setlakwe, By Thomas, Betina Lou, Annie 50, atelier b., Hip and Bone, Symbiose by Hinda A., Tame, Davman, jewelry and accessories brand LaLaYeah and Toronto-based Rachel Sin are also on the roster.

In addition to collection launches, event organizer Chantal Durivage said in a release on Wednesday that they've added a series of exhibitions, films about fashion and "other artistic expressions pertaining to fashion" to provide attendees with "a complete experience."

After several seasons with Bonsecours Market as the event's central hub, the event will now be based at Arsenal, a contemporary art complex.

Montreal Fashion Week runs from Sept. 4-7.
