Cal Ripken Jr. to speak on mother's kidnapping, provide update on investigation

BALTIMORE - Hall of Fame infielder Cal Ripken Jr. plans to speak about last week's abduction of his mother.

Ripken is scheduled to discuss the case Friday morning at the B&O Warehouse at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, his home stadium with the Baltimore Orioles.

Ripken's 74-year-old mother, Vi, told police last week that she had been forcibly abducted from her Aberdeen home outside Baltimore, blindfolded and driven around by her kidnapper. She was found safe in her car the next morning.

Aberdeen police have released video and a sketch of a suspect.

A Ripken spokesman says Ripken will provide an update on the investigation and will make a statement.
