Coldest Night of the Year Walk

A cold night is an irritant for those of us with homes to go home to, but for people without a home it can be life threatening. Yorkton Transitional Homes for Youth wants to support homeless people in Yorkton, and is hoping people bundle up for the Coldest Night of the Year walk, on February 25, 2017.

The goal of holding the walk in late February is twofold. They hope the experience will enlighten people to the struggle faced by homeless people within the community, while also raising money to help YTHY fund supports and services.

Participants will don a Coldest Night of the Year toque on their walk, either a 2km or 5km route through the city’s downtown. The goal of this year’s event is to raise $20,000.

There are three ways to get involved, whether that means walking and registering a team, volunteering for the event or simply donating money to the cause. All three involve the first step of visiting the walk’s website at www.coldestnightoftheyear.org/yorkton.
