On October 14, 2017 Saltcoats Historical Society is proud to present LEGENDS - Country, Soul and Rock ‘n Roll. The show that features some of the greatest legends of music will be taking up residence at the Anne Portnuff theatre in Yorkton, Saskatchewan to raise the roof and deliver a greatest hits package. Willie Nelson, Patsy Cline, Roy Orbison, Shania, Bob Dylan and Joe Cocker are only a few of the artists portrayed that will have you singing along and dancing in your seats.
The show stars Saltcoats very own Devra Straker along with Kevin Dabbs and Kieran Martin Murphy. This entertainment extravaganza comes out of Edmonton, Alberta and for over ten years they have been wowing audiences with their uncanny impersonations and incomparable stage presence. Not only is this production packed with mega hits, but is also laced with comedy from the likes of Rodney Dangerfield and more!
Devra Straker was raised in Saltcoats, Sask. and has been working in professional theatre for over 2 decades with such credits as Patsy Cline in A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline Story, June Carter Cash in Ring of Fire, Rocky Horror Show and Jesus Christ Superstar. Devra was also chosen to sing for Prince Edward and Countess Sophie to mark the 50th Anniversary of Regina’s Globe Theatre.
Kevin Dabbs is a Native of Winnipeg, Mb and for over 20 years has played percussion for the likes of Mike Plume as well as starring in many professional theatrical productions such as The Wedding Singer, The Full Monty, J C Superstar and as Paul McCartney in two separate Beatles productions at the Mayfield in Edmonton.
Gerrad Everard hails from his family’s cattle and grain farm near Wawanesa, Manitoba. He has performed on four continents, over 30 states in the U.S and right across Canada. Select credits include Million Dollar Quartet, Sister Act, The Rocky Horror Show and The Wedding Singer. “ROK 2G0” marks Gerrad’s debut album - a taste of country with a rock’n roll edge, putting a new spin on 11 legendary songs. The album is dedicated to both Canadian Farmers and Artists and will be available for purchase at the show.
Kieran Martin Murphy hails from Westlock, AB. And has credits including Jean Valjean in Les Miserables, SPAMALOT, CATS, Rock of Ages and Hamlet. He plays Luciano Pavarotti in The PreTenors and was a regular on CBC Radio’s The Irrelevant Show.
