This spring, Parkland College is adding a program to its offerings at the Trades and Technology Centre. The SaskPolytech Electrician Applied Certificate program will be delivered in Yorkton starting in mid-April.

The 20-week program provides entry level skills training for people wishing to get started in an electrical career. Students learn how to make electrical installations and perform maintenance duties according to industry standards.

Graduates of this program are prepared to work with electrical contractors, large manufacturing and mining firms, retail outlets or wholesale outlets, or may be self-employed.

Trade time and academic credit may be available for graduates who find employment in the trade and register as apprentices with the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission.

Over the past few years, the College has offered the Electrician certificate at its Esterhazy campus. Moving the program to Yorkton helps to ensure better year-round use of the Trades and Technology Centre.

Seats are available for this April’s program. Classes run through the summer, and the program concludes Sept. 1. For more information and to apply for admission, visit parklandcollege.sk.ca.
