Sexual Assault

A former Mountie facing eight sexual assault charges in B.C. has now been charged with three more offences allegedly committed in Yorkton between 1987 and 1991.

Alan John Davidson was with the RCMP in Yorkton during those years. He coached hockey and baseball and was involved in other community activities. All of the charges he faces involve boys under the age of 18.

After Davidson was charged in BC, the RCMP reached out to the other communities where he was stationed over the years. Three individuals who either lived in or were visiting family in Yorkton at that time came forward with the new allegations.

At a press conference Friday, Inspector Jennifer Ebert would not say whether the boys came in contact with Davidson through his duties with the RCMP, while coaching or while engaged in other community activities. Because the victims were youths at the time of the alleged offences any information that could lead to their identities is covered by a publication ban.

Yorkton General Investigations Section RCMP arrested Davidson Thursday in Nanaimo, BC where he is awaiting trial on the previous charges. Ebert said the investigation is ongoing and there may be other victims. Davidson spent 15 years of his career in Saskatchewan in Regina, Coronach, Lloydminster and North Battleford in addition to Yorkton.
