York Lake Golf and Country Club has decided to make this winter’s $5,000 crowdfunding campaign unique and strategic.

“If we can get golfers and park guests into a cool, comfortable clubhouse, there’s more chance that they’ll stay and enjoy time with friends and family,” said Judy Hughes a member of the fundraising team.

Funds raised will go toward the installation of an air conditioning system in the clubhouse.

A cooler clubhouse is just the start of expansion plans that include kitchen renovations, new equipment and a new menu.

“We’ve been focused on getting the new Foot Golf course up and running so now it’s time to work on the before and after golf experience for our customers,” Hughes explained.

Along with Community Futures support and their new crowdfunding portal, www.cfcrowdfund.net, the fundraising team is offering golf, dining and stay play packages for purchase as part of the campaign.

“We are not asking for donations, you can purchase some awesome packages that any golfer or person looking for summer dining would love,” Hughes said.  “This is a unique fundraiser because there’s no luck or chance.  Everyone who contributes gets something they can really use.”

Local Community Futures General Manager, Corinne Lubiniecki, is excited about the campaign, which will launch tomorrow at the Home Inn and Suites.

“This is a first for us and for York Lake Golf & Country Club. We are all learning a new way of raising money for community projects.”
