Federal Minister of Agriculture, James Garfield Gardner speaks at the civic dinner held at the Yorkton Hotel on the official opening of the Federal Government Building located at #37, Third Avenue North. (Today’s City Hall.) Mayor C.G.Langrill is next to Minister Gardiner at the banquet table. Gardner was Minister of Agriculture from 1935 until 1957. He was very much involved with the work of Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Act to help rehabilitate farms that had suffered soil damage during the Depression years.
