Police are now treating the sudden death of a 67-year-old Yorkton man found on the street on Wellington Park Road near Gladstone Avenue on Tuesday morning as suspicious following an autopsy.

The street is again open, but the ball diamonds, dog park and wooded area between Hopkins Lake and Sacred Heart High School remain blocked off as a police investigation continues. The RCMP would not confirm nor deny rumours circulating around town that the victim had been stabbed.

No other details of the crime are being released, but investigators are asking members of the public to report any suspicious activity they may have noticed around that area of town between midnight and 5:15 a.m. on September 13 by calling the local detachment at 306-786-2400 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS).

A press release stated there is no risk to the public at this time.
