A 19-year-old Yorkton man made his first appearance in court April 10 following being charged with dangerous driving causing death in a September 2016 collision that killed another area man and youth.
Hunter Arnold was the driver of one of the cars that collided head-on September 24, 2016 on Hwy 10 just south of Yorkton. Jordan Stoll, 17, who was the other occupant in the car with Arnold, and Tyler Dobko, the lone occupant of the other car, died at the scene.
Stoll and Arnold were good friends on their way to a Roughriders game in Regina that afternoon. Arnold was seriously injured in the crash and spent considerable time in hospital in Saskatoon receiving multiple surgeries.
Following the collision, community support for Arnold was strong. The SSMHL ‘AA’ Yorkton Kinsmen Terriers, a team for which Arnold formerly played, raised $13,000 in October to help the family with expenses related to the young man’s medical procedures.
In court Monday, local attorney Mark Persick, on behalf of the defence, asked for and was granted an adjournment until May 1 to review disclosure of the Crown’s case.
