A much loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Rose Danylko, aged 100 years, of Yorkton, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2013 with her family present. She departed not like a tree, falling over, but in the way of a mountain, weathering time, till it wore away and became one with the earth. Rose was born on June 25, 1912 in the Calder District of Saskatchewan. She was the third of fourteen children born to John and Margaret (nee Eftoda) Boyko. In 1930, she became the wife of a great man, who loved and adored her and supported her in every way, Mike Danylko. They immediately settled into farming north of Calder until they retired to Yorkton in 1975. Her life spanned a century and Rose's time included half a dozen wars, Spanish influenza, the Great Depression, 16 different prime ministers and 18 presidents. She was an incredible cook, seamstress and gardener; a devoted wife, special mother, adoring grandmother, delighted great and great-great grandmother. Rose always thought of everyone else long before she ever thought of herself. She made her family's lives more special than they ever could have been without her. Rose was predeceased by her parents; her beloved husband of 67 years, Mike; her precious grandchild, Tricia Leigh Riabko; eleven sisters and one brother. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory; her two daughters, Ruth Toderian and Mavis (Matt) Riabko; four grandchildren, Bonnie (Jim) Wagner, Sheryl (Van) Stewart/Daniels, Mitchell (Gwen) Riabko and Shayne Toderian; seven great-grandchildren, Corbin and Shania Rose Stewart, Sage Toderian, Kyle and Benjamin Riabko, Brooke (Scott) Fordice and Brittany Wagner; one great-great-grandchild, Milla Rose Fordice and two sisters, Victoria MacDonald and Viola Surkan. Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home in Yorkton, SK with Kathy Novak serving as the Funeral Celebrant. Words of tribute and eulogy were shared by Van Stewart (as written by Rose's granddaughter, Sheryl Daniels) and by grandson, Mitch Riabko. Special taped music selections included, "Wind Beneath My Wings" (Bette Midler) as the processional music, "Amazing Grace" (Susan Boyle), "Knocking on Heaven's Door" (Guns N Roses), "Candle in the Wind" (Elton John) and "Go Rest High on That Mountain" (Vince Gill) as the recessional music. Family friends led the congregation in the singing of the "Eternal Memory". The Interment Service followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Mitch Riabko, Brooke Fordice, Shayne Toderian, Sage Toderian, Jim Wagner and Van Stewart serving as the casket bearers. The family would like to offer their heartfelt thanks to the loving staff at the Yorkton & District Nursing Home (North One - Country Meadows). In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Health Foundation for use at the nursing home or to the charity of their choice as tokens of remembrance.
