Dorne Kerry Hootz- 1961- 2013. With feelings of shock, disbelief and heartfelt sadness, the family of Dorne wish to announce his sudden and untimely passing at his home in Edmonton on the early morning of June 27. Dorne was born on October 2, 1961 in Yorkton, the second son to Lorne Hootz and Donna Mitchell. He attended Fairview School, Yorkdale Junior High and the Yorkton Regional High School graduating in 1979. Shortly after graduation, he moved to Edmonton where, along with his mother Donna, they operated a business together for many years. Most recently Dorne was employed by Boundary Equipment in Edmonton until the time of his passing. In 1985, Dorne was united in marriage to Arlene Rothenberger, formerly of Rhein SK. This marriage was blessed with three wonderful children Christopher, Bryce, and Jessica. Dorne was a kind and loving husband to his wife Arlene and a patient, caring, loving and devoted father to his children. He spent many years and miles taking them to their hockey, soccer and other activities in and around Edmonton. Most recently in May of this year, the family attended the graduation of Jessica from Colgate University in New York State. Jessica had completed four years in attendance there on a hockey scholarship. In his quiet manner, this was an achievement of which Dorne was very proud. Dorne is survived by his loving wife Arlene, their children Christopher (Terra), Bryce and Jessica. Along with mother-in-law Clara, brother-in-law Derryle, sisters-in law Brenda (Arlon) and Cheryl. Also surviving are father Lorne, mother Donna, brother Wade (Val) and their six children Melissa, Brett, Sean, Craig (Maeghan), Drake, and Mark. Also included amongst those who will miss Dorne greatly are many Aunts, uncles, nephews and cousins. Private cremation has taken place with commital of cremated remains to take place at a later date. Dorne will be dearly missed by his family and friends. God be with you until we meet again in that perfect place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation in Dorne's memory.
