Kazimiera Hudy

Kazimiera Hudy, resident of the Yorkton & District Nursing Home, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2016. She was 87 years of age. Kazimeria Hudy daughter of Aleksander Makosz and Ann Makosz (Mystkowska) was born October 23, 1928 in Lukow Poland. Kazimeria's early years were spent in Poland growing up through the second world war. Kazimeria immigrated to Canada by oceanliner in 1960 to meet her future husband Walter Hudy whom she previously corresponded with through mail. They were married on May 27, 1961 in Brewer, SK. Together they resided in Seredaville, just west of Yorkton. Kazimeria was a full-time housewife and home maker. She took great enjoyment and pleasure caring for her children and grandchildren. Mom would always welcome with open arms and caring heart any and all children who came upon her doorstep. Mom's greatest joy were her grandchildren. While caring for her family mom still found time to plant and harvest a 1/4 acre garden year in and year out that she thoroughly enjoyed tending to. We her children, not so much (LOL). As well as gardening, Kazimeria enjoyed mushroom and berry picking. Kazimeria, being a devout Catholic, took every opportunity to attend mass, whether it be Sunday morning or a weekday evening. Kazimeria moved to the Yorkton & District Nursing Home on May 23, 2013. In those three years mom was blessed with a caring and compassionate staff which soon became a second family for her. She truly cared for her nursing home friends as they truly cared for her. Mom passed away peacefully on Friday, September 16 2016 at about 8:30 in the morning with all her children around her. Mom passed away with Joanne's arms around her. Predeceased by her parents, Aleksander and Ann Makosz, and by her husband Walter Hudy. Kazimeria was the final living sibling amongst her brothers and sisters: Grestaw (Chester), Yanina (Jane), Irena (Irene), Mierystaw (Metro), Regina (Regan), Yan (John), Yophia (Sophia), Wicnty (Vincent), Marek (Mark); and by granddaughter Sheenah Kalk. She leaves to mourn her four children: Walter Hudy (Roxann) and their two children Zachary and Brittany; Eva Hudy (Ken Kalk) and their children Vincent and Calvin Hamm and Megan (Magdalena) Kalk; Teresa Mysko (Mike) and their son David Mysko; Joanne Hudy (Glenn Betker) Morgan and Gracynn Gurniak. There are many surviving nieces and nephews in Canada and overseas as well. Kazimeria also leaves to mourn many in-laws and friends too numerous to list. Prayers were held on Tuesday evening, September 20, 2016 from St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church in Yorkton. Hymns sung were 'Amazing Grace' , Psalm 122, and 'How Great Thou Art'. Fr. Francis Hengen officiated, the lay-reader was Dawson Stefanyshyn. The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday morning, September 21 from St. Gerard's Church with Fr. Francis as Celebrant.
