Mrs. Olga Syrnyk, formerly of Yorkton passed away peacefully on January 29, 2015 at Pioneer Village in Regina at the age of 96 years.

Mrs. Olga Syrnyk, formerly of Yorkton passed away peacefully on January 29, 2015 at Pioneer Village in Regina at the age of 96 years. She leaves to cherish her generous spirit her sons Douglas, Tom (Rose), Randy (Barb) and daughters Peggy (Leo) Misko and Sandra (Murray) Turner, 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents William and Anna Rudyk, brothers Harry and Peter, husbands John Kulba and Sam Syrnyk and grandson John Kulba. Olga was born in Winnipeg and raised in the Ethelbert district of Manitoba. She married John in Winnipeg and together they operated a Beauty Salon there and later in Beausejour. In 1949 they moved to Verigin where they operated K & R General Store until 1977. Shortly after retirement to Hudson Bay, John passed away. Olga remarried in 1983 to Sam and moved to Fairview, AB, returning to Yorkton in 1999. Olga was an avid gardener, bowler, curler and cribbage player. She was a great cook, hard worker and very sociable. She leaves many good memories to live on in her family. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Father Raymond Lukie, C.Ss.R. of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church officiating. The responses were led by Ed Pindus and St. Mary's Choir. The interment followed in the Garden of Memories Columbarium at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Luke Filipchuk serving as the urn bearer.
