KUZMA - It is with deep and heavy sadness we announce the death of Mike Kuzma, 81, after a valiant and courageous battle with cancer. Mike passed away peacefully on Friday, August 11, 2017 in Yorkton. He was born on the farm near Norquay on October 18, 1935 to the late John and Helen (nee Pandich) Kuzma. Leaving to mourn his passing are his wife of 60 years, Helen (nee Filpula); his daughters Wendy and Diane (Brad) and his son, Alan (Tammy); 8 grandchildren, Theresa (Dale), Richard (Kate), Meghan (Russ), Sarina, Leah (Tanner), Jessica (Cam), Colby and Mitchell (Calista) and 7 great-grandchildren, Caleb, Westin, Kyron, Lucien, Astrid, Sawyer and Michael. He is also survived by his brother Johnny (Annette), sister Vera, niece Betty Ann and nephews Chris, Gerald and Darrel. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Chelsea and his great-grandson Sullivan and many dear friends including Don and Ev Blackmore, Ron Crozier and Carl Denet. For 38 years he worked for Saskatchewan Brewers Limited until his retirement. He enjoyed sports and played fastball, bowling, curling and darts. He also enjoyed fishing and ice fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and camping. Mike will be remembered for being a jokester and playing pranks on people, his quick wit with some BS thrown in and a personality that was larger than life. Mike was a friend to all and loved to laugh and make others laugh. He was active in the ACT and the Army, Navy & Airforce Veterans Club. The funeral service was held Saturday, August 19, 2017 from Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Pastor Brian Ray officiating. Tributes and words of remembrance were done by Theresa Clearwater. Musical selections were played by organist, Lenore Denbrok. The interment followed in the Garden of Gethsemane with Alan Kuzma, Mitchell Kuzma, Colby Kuzma, Darrel Rossin, Russ Tilley and Tanner Lutz serving as casket bearers.
