Joe Moldowan, beloved husband of Mary Moldowan fell asleep in the Lord on Sunday April 21, 2013 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre at the age of 83 years. Joe was born on the family farm in the Insinger District on April 28, 1929 to Wasyl and Lily (nee Novak) Moldowan. Joe was raised on the family farm and attended Insinger School as a child continuing to help and farm with his father until 1966. Joe met Mary Fenuik and the couple was united in Holy Matrimony on July 30 of 1955. In 1966 Joe and Mary moved to Yorkton and Joe began working for Morris Rod-Weeder. Joe worked for Morris for 28 years and he truly loved working there. Joe had a real love for his Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Insinger Highway). His dedication was shown from the many years he served as parish president and his willingness to assist with the maintenance of the church and cemetery and his service in the altar as the Palamar (elder). Joe enjoyed going to Yorkton Terrier games and enjoying a coffee and a visit with friends at the mall. He especially enjoyed going fishing with his grandson, Christopher. He also enjoyed spending time with his loving family and many friends. Joe always had his signature warm smile waiting for anyone and was always happy, positive and friendly. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Wasyl and Lily Moldowan; his brother, Fred Moldowan; and his sister, Mary Surkan. He leaves to celebrate his life, his beloved wife of 57 years, Mary; their five children, Marlene (Lionel) Turcotte of Prince Albert, Sherry Koroluk of Saskatoon, Wes (Sue) Moldowan of Melfort, Perry (Delores) Moldowan of Winnipeg, and Pam (Brad) Hanson of Yorkton. His eight grandchildren, Clayton Turcotte, Tiffany (Mike) Cannon, Travis (Marianne) Turcotte, Rob (Kristin) Koroluk, Chris (Robin) Koroluk, Angela Koroluk, Brendan & Jenna Moldowan; his two great-grandchildren, Austin Turcotte and Joshua Cannon. He also leaves his sister, Eleanor Kreklewetz, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Prayer services were held on April 24, 2013 at 7:30 PM from Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Yorkton with Very Reverend Father Mel Slashinsky officiating. Funeral services were held on Thursday April 25, 2013 from Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Orthodox Church Yorkton with Very Reverend Father Mel Slashinsky serving as the Celebrant with Mr. Gerald Yaholnitsky serving as the Cantor and leading the parish choir in the singing of the responses. Mr. George Prokopchuk and Mr. Gene Heshka served as the Palamars with Mr. Mike Dwernichuk serving as the Holy Crossbearer with Wayne Lysak and Jenna Moldowan serving as the Bannerbearers. The interment followed in the Garden of Gethsemane in the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Ltd. with Clayton Turcotte, Robyn Koroluk, Travis Turcotte, Christopher Koroluk, Brendan Moldowan, Angie Koroluk, Tiffany Cannon, Austin Turcotte and Joshua Cannon serving as the Pallbearers. As a charitable expression of sympathy those wishing to remember Joe Moldowan may do so with a donation to the Sts.
