Jean Petruschak (nee Tkachuk) After a short illness, our loving Grandmother, Jean Petruschak passed away at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, SK on February 2, 2012 at the age of 87. Jean was born May 19, 1924 to parents Katherine and Harry Tkachuk, in the rural municipality of Insinger. She attended school in Insinger and while still quite young, Jean took on a caretaking role in her family after her father passed. Jean married Walter Petruschak in 1949 and together they spent many happy years making wonderful memories in Sheho, SK. In 1950, Jean and Walter were blessed with their only child Sandra. Together they opened Wally's Service where she found great pleasure visiting with the customers and playing cards with neighbors who stopped by. In retirement, Jean enjoyed playing bingo, going for coffee at the café and spending time with her family and friends. Our Grandma was a colorful and witty woman who demonstrated her kindness and generosity to her many friends and family. Grandma had a very big heart and you could always count on her to share her wonderful sense of humour. Her personal mission seemed to be to keep everyone and everything around her well-fed including the neighborhood stray cats. Grandma was predeceased by her spouse Walter, her daughter Sandra (Melnechenko), her parents, her brothers John, William, Henry and Lawrence and sister Anne Horgan. Left to mourn her passing are her son in law, Bernard Melnechenko; Granddaughter Tamala Melnechenko (Gordon Fenton); Grandson Bartley Melnechenko (Leanne); five great grandchildren, Madison, Wyatt, Cassidy, Brody and Eden; sister Mary Didluck; brothers Nick Tkachuk and Maury Karmen; brother in law Bob Horgan, and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Darlene Allary and Leonard and Debbie Sebulsky. We would also like to thank Grandma's numerous friends and neighbors in Sheho who enriched her life in so many ways. Your kindness was always appreciated. In lieu of flowers, please remember Jean by sharing an act of kindness or making a donation to the SPCA. A celebration of Jean's life and internment will be held during the summer of 2012.
