Kenneth (Ken) White went to his Heavenly Home suddenly at the age of 78 years, four days after his beloved wife, Nettie. He is lovingly remembered by his five children, Don (Judy) Calgary AB, Dale Sherwood Park AB, Denise (Alan) Borden SK, Damon (Alison) Calgary AB, Denette Sumners, Wetaskiwin AB. His 13 grandchildren, Heidi (Dean) Phipps, Ashley (Derek) Hirsch, Maxwell Fritsch, Stefanason (Larissa) Fritsch, Milo White, Jacob White, Alexandra, Paige, Jonas and Courtney Sumners, Gabriele White, Grayson and Livia White, as well as two great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Emery Hirsch. Also left to mourn are his three sisters-in-law, Lucy Popik, Kay Sereda, Patricia (Bud) Semchuk; three brothers-in-law, Russell, Alexander (Cecile), and Dennis (Jenette) Halyk, and many, many nieces and nephews. Ken was born in West Bend, SK, but was raised in Foam Lake which was where he first met Nettie. Some time after marriage, the couple moved to Yorkton, where Ken was employed first at a tire shop, but later as an Account Executive for Gulf Oil. In the 1980's after a territory restructure, Ken sold advertising first for CJGX radio, and then for CKOS Television. Ken was always an athlete and particularly enjoyed baseball and hockey. As his family grew he became more of a fan than a participant and enjoyed coaching, and spectating more. He also loved to garden and spent hours tending to his flowers and vegetables, although much of his time in the yard was spent visiting with friends and neighbors. Ken had a great sense of humor and always kept his friends and family entertained. He was a DWI instructor for many years, and was a member of the Parkland Alcohol and Drug Commission. He was also on the Board of Directors of Whitespruce Treatment Center. In later years, Ken loved the company of his friends and family more than anything else. Welcoming him in Heaven is his loving wife, Nettie; parents, Arthur and Mary White, Theo and Julia Halyk, his sister Helen and three brothers-in-law, John Sereda, John Popik, and Larry Chomiak. A Prayer Vigil was held on Tuesday, February 28 at 7:00 p.m., and the Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, February 29 at 10:00 a.m. Both took place at Cathedral of the Holy Family. In lieu of flowers, Ken has requested donations to be made to the Canadian Diabetes Society (P.O. Box 26331 Stn Brm B, Toronto, ON, M7Y 4R1) or the Cathedral of the Holy Family Building Fund (123 Nelson Road, Saskatoon, SK. S7S 1H1, in memory of Ken White).
