The CWE will be returning to Yorkton on January 11 with another tour full of high flying action.

Canadian Wrestling Elite (CWE) took to Yorkton on Sept. 22, presenting their tour Destined for Greatness at Yorkdale Central School. The event is touring across four provinces and putting off ten shows.

The crowd that gathered for the show was full of energy, as they watched twelve professional wrestlers battle it out in the ring.

The biggest name at this event was Nick “Magnus” Aldis, a Global Force World Champion and TNA Impact Alumni.

Danny Warren is the owner of CWE, and was in charge of putting together this tour. Warren also wrestles under the name “Hotshot Danny Duggan.”

“It went great, Yorkton is always the first stop on our tours and it’s always a good kickoff for the rest of the week,” Warren said. “The more enthusiastic and energetic the crowd, the more enthusiastic and energetic we are to wrestle. If you sit in front of a crowd who’s not overly excited to be there, it’s hard to get amped up yourself. Yorkton is always very supportive.”

While the wrestling event was what brought them to town, it wasn’t the only thing they did in Yorkton.

On the afternoon of the performance, Warren and a few of the other wrestlers stopped by the Yorkton Mental Health Drop-in Centre. There, they answered some questions of excited fans from the centre, and went face-to-face with some video game enthusiasts.

“I think it’s important because when I was young, getting to meet wrestlers as a wrestling fan, I thought it was the coolest thing in the world,” said Warren.  “So now to give that back and bring the wrestlers to town and personally go out and meet people in the community, I know we’re kind of giving back in the same was that people gave back to us when we were young.”

Warren said it’s something really unique that they do at CWE, and it’s not only in Yorkton that they make these visits.

“We do it all over the place. We have contacts at organizations across Canada that we try to make time for and stop in.”

The CWE will be back in Yorkton on January 11 for new tour. Warren said there will be some returning wrestlers, as well as some new ones to keep things fresh.
