The Western conference final has come down to the Seattle Thunderbirds and the Kelowna Rockets – both teams have a Yorkton player in their roster.
The Seattle Thunderbirds’ rookie Zack Andrusiak reigns from Yorkton. The forward had 11 points in the regular season with the Thunderbirds, stemming from six goals and five assists.
So far in this WHL playoff run, Andrusiak has three points (1 G, 2 A).
Kelowna has Yorkton RawTec Maulers’ D-man Kaedan Korczak on their playoff roster. Korczak headed out west to join the Rockets as soon as the Maulers’ season ended.
Korczak has played in two WHL playoff games so far this season. He was drafted last year as a first round pick for the Rockets.
The Thunderbirds will face the Rockets for game one of round three of playoffs on Friday night - the Western conference final. The winner of that series will move on to the WHL final.
On the eastern side of the league, the Regina Pats and Swift Current Broncos wrapped up their seven game series on Monday night, with the Pats taking the win to push them into the third round - the Eastern conference final.
The team they will face was decided on Tuesday night. It came down to the Medicine Hat Tigers and the Lethbridge Hurricanes. The result was not available at the time of print.
