Bees busy making honey

Production good so far for local producer

Summer is the time for bees to produce honey.

That is certainly the case at BR Honey for Yorkton as can be seen in this series of photos of bees is a yard west of Yorkton in the Orcadia area.

“We currently have 42 hives,” said Rashele Wasylenchuk, who operates the apiary, (where bees are kept), with husband Barry. “Just me and husband do all from working with bees, packing and selling.”

The honey produced is marketed locally, in and around Yorkton and area and is available for pick up in Yorkton as well, said Wasylenchuk.

So far, 2019 has been a solid year production wise.

“The first honey pull was better than average but will have to see at the end of the season and compare from previous years,” saidWasylenchuk.
