The Best of the Breeds Bull Sale has been held in Leross for the past decade, but moved to Heartland Livestock in Yorkton for its 11th annual sale held Sunday. The sale highlighted offerings from Forden Fairview Farm, Punnichy, SK, Goodview Gelvieh, Punnichy, SK, Twin Heritage Farms, Sheho, SK, Black Ridge Angus Farm, Dysart, SK; Harcourt Charolais, Quill Lake, SK, Dogpatch Acres, Leroy, SK.. The six breeders catalogued 81 bulls which went under the gavel of auctioneer Chris Poley. The first bull sold in the sale was the sale’s high seller, a red angus; ‘Red Twin Heritage Hustle 53B’ from Twin Heritage Farms. It brought a bid of $24,000 and went to interests in Wisconsin. The red angus averaged 7,637. The Charolais high seller brought $20,500 and the breed averaged 5,857.  The black angus high seller brought 17,000, and averaged 6,733. The Gelbvieh high seller was 8,500, and the breed averaged 6,590. The Simmental high seller was 9,000, and they averaged 5934. The entire sale average was 6,361.
