The case against a Kindersley mother charged in connection to the 2018 death of her baby will proceed in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Teenie Rose Steer, 28, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of her one-month-old infant, and had her third court appearance March 25 in Saskatoon Provincial Court. The case was moved from Rosetown circuit court to Saskatoon earlier in March. Steer was arrested on Feb. 25, 2020.
According to RCMP, police responded to a home after a report of an infant in cardiac arrest. First responders, as well as doctors at the Rosetown hospital, attempted life-saving measures but the infant was pronounced dead in hospital.
A September 2018 autopsy revealed information that led investigators to believe the baby’s death was suspicious and RCMP Major Crimes took over the investigation. RCMP didn't reveal details of that information.
Steer is remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court via CCTV on April 1.
The charges haven’t been proven in court.
